Description
The Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a full-time (nine-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2019, with expertise in the history of physical culture and sport studies. The successful candidate will teach and mentor graduate students in the doctoral program in Physical Culture and Sport Studies, teach in the department's undergraduate major in Physical Culture and Sport, and assist with the closely affiliated master's and undergraduate programs in Sport Management. It is expected that the hired candidate will actively engage in scholarly research and publication; recruit graduate students and supervise theses and dissertations; and provide service to the department and profession. Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of the history of physical culture and the ability to teach a variety of courses such as Historical Research Methods, The History of Physical Culture, the History of Exercise Science and Sport Medicine, Historical and Ethical Issues in Physical Culture and Sports and other courses tied to their research expertise.

A doctoral degree in Kinesiology or Health Education with a specialization in Sport History, Sport Philosophy or other field in the Sport Humanities; or a doctoral degree with a research specialization in the history of physical culture, history of exercise, or history of sport from History, American Studies, Women and Gender Studies, African-American and Diaspora Studies, Latin-American Studies, other programs in race and ethnic studies, or other programs in the Humanities. (ABD candidates will be considered if graduation occurs before August 2019).

An established record of scholarly publication and presentation in the field of sport history, physical culture history, and/or sport studies.
