Job Description:

SUMMARY

Provides assistance and supports all aspects of the daily operations of the Student Financial Aid & Scholarships Processing Center which involves accurate, consistent, and timely processing of financial aid programs and documents that determine financial aid eligibility. Supports data that are associated with effective communications that assist with the processing of student financial aid and manages financial aid programs and processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides support to Student Financial Aid & Scholarships projects as needed, including process mapping, policies and procedure implementation, and the building processes within Banner, Banner Self-Service and the college's reporting tools, etc.
  • Provides support to and serves as a data reporter for Financial Aid experiments, provides analytical analysis of the impact of Financial Aid awarding, and uses data to support department goals
  • Monitors and runs Banner jobs, makes independent decisions regarding federal requirements for student financial aid eligibility, student consumer information, and supports BANNER functionality for e-mail communications
  • Participates in college-wide activities that promote student recruitment, retention, matriculation, and persistence.
  • Interprets and accurately applies federal, state, and institutional rules, regulations, and policies, which result in making independent judgments that carry substantial fiscal consequences for students and for the institution
  • Maintains electronic data and student records relating to financial aid eligibility and confirms inter-related electronic processes execute correctly
  • Contributes to the formulation, development, and implementation of policies and procedures that ensures consistency and equity in the delivery of financial aid programs; Updates annual financial aid forms used to document and determine student financial aid eligibility
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Bachelor's Degree
    • Significant related experience may substitute for education
  • Minimum of three years of direct professional financial aid processing experience at a college or university managing federal financial aid programs
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations
  • Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department

  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Possess strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail

  • Demonstrated basic project management skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Banner (or equivalent program)
  • Demonstrated basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Access
  • Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity
  • Ability to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects
  • Ability to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts on major projects
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
