Job Description:

The Director of Professional Educator Services is responsible for oversight of the Office of Professional Educator Services (PES). Under the supervision of the Director, PES staff support education candidate admissions and orientation; early field placements; recruitment; student teaching; field clearance verification; program graduate credentialing; and international practicum, internship, and student teaching experiences. The Director and staff foster positive and collaborative partnerships with the School of Teacher Education Director, faculty, and staff; with other WKU education-related faculty; as well as with local and regional P-12 school personnel toward meeting the needs of our regional education partners. The Director will lead efforts to digitize office operations facilitating a seamless student experience related to form processing, recordkeeping, and communications. The Director serves as a primary point of contact for school districts and community support agencies seeking to partner university students, faculty, and regional education partners more effectively. 


  • Master's degree in education or related discipline
  • P-12 classroom and administrative experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Kentucky Teacher Performance Standards, certification processes, and other related education regulations
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong technology skills and understanding of data-based processes
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive relationships among university personnel, school-based personnel, and professional education candidates
