NYIT’s College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks an Assistant/Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Clinical Education. Under the leadership of the Associate Dean Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education is administratively responsible for Years 3 and 4 of the Curriculum.

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Dean is responsible for working with the Associate Dean on the third and fourth years in the osteopathic medical education program leading to the D.O. degree at NYITCOM. The Assistant Dean is responsible for having an intimate knowledge of all aspects of the third and fourth year curriculum and will provide leadership, oversight and implementation in alignment with the NYITCOM’s Mission, Vision and Values. 

Specifically, the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education will actively develop, coordinate and implement curricular schedules for the final two years of the osteopathic academic program.

Helps lead the faculty in the design and definition of the clinical curriculum and in the development of educational policy consistent with the mission and vision of NYITCOM.

Works with the ICC (Institute for Clinical Competence) programs for the development and implementation of the 3rd year OSCE program.

Monitors academic performance for all students during the third and fourth years of the curriculum. Works with the other deans and department chairs as well as program directors to evaluate, counsel, and advise faculty in meeting their responsibilities.

The successful candidate will serve as course director for the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course.

Teaches and facilitates as requested by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Dean. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Earned Doctorate Degree in relevant area (DO, MD, PhD, or EdD).

A minimum of 5 years of experience in academic administration and medical education with demonstrated success.

The candidate must have a working knowledge of curriculum planning, implementation and assessment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Must have excellent computer working skills and be completely proficient in such programs as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
