General Summary of Responsibilities: The Department of Middle Grades, Secondary, Reading and Deaf Education seeks applicants for a tenure track, faculty position. Teaching responsibilities include graduate-level courses in middle grades education, secondary education, curriculum and instruction, and teacher leadership as well as undergraduate courses for preservice middle grades education, including pedagogical methods for teaching mathematics. Delivery formats include on- and off-campus as well as online. Other required responsibilities include supervising field experiences and clinical practice; fostering relationships with teachers and administrators across the state, and supporting schools within the region; advising and mentoring candidates of diverse cultures and backgrounds; collaborating in curriculum and instructional development and implementation; conducting a research agenda that includes publications and presentations; and engaging in service activities within the University, College, Department as well as the local community. Required Qualifications: Doctorate degree from an accredited institution in middle grades education, secondary education, mathematics education, curriculum and instruction, or closely related discipline; at least 18 graduate hours of mathematics or mathematics education coursework, sufficient for accreditation purposes; and at least 3 years of successful public school teaching experience at the middle grades level (4th-8th) or secondary level (6th-12th) in United States public schools.
