Assistant Professor of Elementary Education (Director of Sullivan Literacy Center)

General Summary of Responsibilities: The Department of Elementary Education seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position. The position will serve as the director of the Sullivan Literacy Center and will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and supervising teacher candidates in Elementary Education, primarily in the areas of reading/literacy; mentoring Elementary Education candidates; conducting a research agenda that includes publications, presentations, and grant writing; and providing service to the University, College, Department, Profession, and public schools in the region. Required Qualifications: A doctorate from an accredited institution in early childhood education, elementary education, reading education, or a very closely related field with a concentration in reading/literacy by appointment date; at least three years of successful full-time college level teaching and supervision experience in early childhood or elementary education; a record of recent scholarship and service activities; at least three years public school teaching experience in an elementary school; experience using data-based decision making strategies, evidence of the creative use of technology in the curriculum; and experience with online programs. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
