Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university strongly preferred with major studies in accounting, business, or related field strongly preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience with financial management, including knowledge of budgets, accrual-basis financial reports, governmental accounting, purchasing, billing, accounts payable, and cost allocations.
Supervisory experience required, including the ability to coach, mentor, and lead a high-caliber team that performs work at a high level of detail and accuracy within established deadlines.
Strong analytical skills along with the ability to lead groups in analyzing customer needs, developing new information systems, and implementing improved processes and software solutions.
Experience developing and maintaining strong internal controls.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in developing, applying, and interpreting policies and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain effective, respectful work relationships, including a commitment to exceptional customer service and a willingness to problem solve with multiple constituencies.
A demonstrated commitment to the principles of engagement, inclusion, and diversity.
License or certificate:
This position manages the Business Operations and Purchasing (BOP) department of the Division of Facilities Planning and Management (FP&M), reporting to the Deputy Associate Vice Chancellor. Responsibilities include oversight of billings, accounts receivable, cash handling, requisition processing, travel expense reimbursement, payment processing, invoice audit, procurement, and accounts payable for an organization with an annual combined budget of approximately $250 million. This position manages the design, development and implementation of FP&M financial management systems as well as interfaces with university accounting systems, and participates in the development of divisional facilities management systems. In addition, this position supervises FP&M?s delegated purchasing agent supervisor and is responsible for interpreting UW-Madison and State of Wisconsin financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
