Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia's Biocomplexity Institute is looking for a Python Web Developer to aid in the development of multiple research-oriented web applications in Rosslyn VA.
This position will be responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and front-end web application users. A major focus will be the development of server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end, and secure storage of collected data and information.
This position will also be responsible for working with multiple research teams on the development and integration of the front-end elements; therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well.

Minimum Requirements
- At least three (3) years experience developing in Python, with knowledge of at least one Python web framework (Django, Flask, other)
- Familiarity with some ORM (Object Relational Mapper) libraries
- Able to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system
- Good understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
- Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
- Familiarity with event-driven programming in Python
- Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
- Good unit test and debugging skills
- Proficient understanding of the code versioning tool Git

Preferred Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering or related discipline and at least five (5) years of experience
- At least five (5) years experience developing in Python, with demonstrable knowledge of at least one Python web framework (Django, Flask, other)
- Experience developing with the oTree framework, An open-source platform for behavioral research
