The Department of Theatre Arts at Ithaca College (located in Ithaca, NY) invites applications for a renewable, three-year, non-tenure eligible, assistant professor position from candidates with expertise in stage management. This position guides the stage management curriculum: teaching courses in stage management and technical theatre, mentoring and assessing stage management students throughout the production process, supervising casting, and promoting best practices for stage managers (for both mainstage and studio productions). Department service, including recruitment and academic advising, is also expected. Position/Job Qualifications
Terminal degree in an appropriate field required (must be completed by August 2019). Criteria that will be considered when reviewing candidates include: significant recent professional stage management experience operating under the guidelines of Actors' Equity Association, dedication to active and engaged mentorship of young people, a commitment to fostering an inclusive creative environment, and the ability to teach in a college setting. An ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to: collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and student colleagues (including directors, designers, technicians, and performers); work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures; and possess strong time-management and organizational skills.

The Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts combines conservatory style training with a broad education in the liberal arts. Degree programs include three B.F.A. pre-professional programs (theatre production & design, acting, and musical theatre), a B.S. in theatre arts management, a B.A. in theatre studies, and minors in Theatre or Dance. The department is consistently ranked among the top undergraduate programs in the nation by The Princeton Review and is accredited by NAST. The department's stage management alumni are consistently employed in positions throughout the entertainment industry. Current students interested in stage management are housed within the B.A. in theatre studies degree, where they participate in a robust production season that includes plays, musicals, dance, and opera. The department is in the process of developing a stand-alone B.F.A. in stage management and expects this position to provide leadership that will shape the future of this degree program.
