Description
The Department of Religious Studies and The Center for Women's & Gender Studies at The University of Texas at Austin invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position inreligious studies, gender, and sexualityin Native America or in any region of the world. Our ideal candidate will be a scholar with a research focus on indigenous cultures and peoples, but applicants with research interests in borderlands, East Asia, Latin America, or Islam will be considered. The position will be based in the Department of Religious Studies with teaching responsibilities in the Center for Women's and Gender Studies and in Religious Studies. The teaching load is 2/2 and the position will begin in August 2019. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience.

Qualifications
The successful candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2019, should demonstrate a successful publishing and research trajectory, and should have a solid record as an effective classroom teacher or a teaching philosophy helping to ensure success in the classroom. Applicants to this joint position should demonstrate ability to teach required undergraduate and graduate courses in Women's and Gender Studies, in Religious Studies, and in Native American or Indigenous Studies.

We expect the successful candidate to develop strong research and publishing programs; to direct dissertations, MA reports, and honors theses; to advise students working across Women's and Gender Studies and Religious Studies; and to exhibit a commitment to service to the department, center, programs, college, and university. Collaboration with the Native American and Indigenous Studies Program is also desireable.
