The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases is recruiting a faculty member to provide leadership and oversight for the UHealth Infection Control and Occupational Health Programs. This position will involve a faculty appointment in the Division of Infectious Diseases (rank commensurate with experience). The Director will oversee and ensure an effective infection control surveillance program, implementing appropriate strategies to control and prevent adverse events related to infection, and to improve the quality of care at inpatient and outpatient UHealth clinical facilities. The Director will be the Chairperson of the University of Miami Hospital Infection Control Committee, will oversee a team of infection control practitioners that conducts surveillance rounds, analyzes data, manages outbreaks, and reviews and updates facility risk assessment and infection control plans. The Director ensures program compliance with local, state, and national/federal regulatory agency requirements. The Director will oversee employee health policies to ensure best practice protocols and adherence with national recommendations / guidelines.

The UHealth System includes UHealth Tower, the 560-bed flagship facility of the University of Miami, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and The Lennar Foundation Medical Center, a 200,000-square-foot outpatient center on the University of Miami’s (UM) Coral Gables campus.

The University of Miami Division of Infectious Diseases has a highly respected faculty practice with robust inpatient and outpatient consultation services, a busy and well regarded HIV care clinic supported by Ryan White programs, and a large, well developed fellowship training program. Inpatient consultations are provided at the University of Miami Hospital and Jackson Memorial Hospital to all medical and surgical specialties including large solid organ and stem cell transplant programs.

Division faculty have active programs in clinical, translational, and epidemiological research in several areas including HIV pathogenesis, treatment, and prevention, infections among immunocompromised hosts, and hospital epidemiology and infection control. Research is supported by the Miami Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). Infectious Diseases Faculty participate in education of fellows, residents, and medical students through conferences, mentoring, and clinical teaching.

Requirements include eligibility for an unrestricted Florida Medical License or Faculty Medical Certificate, completing the required UM online training i.e. HIPPA/Billing Compliance, and being credentialed by the University of Miami Medical Group, University of Miami Health System (University of Miami Hospital, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center) and affiliated institutions. Reappointment in subsequent years may also be contingent on obtaining and maintaining board certification in Infectious Diseases.  Faculty are be eligible for the fringe benefit package of the University of Miami Medical Group.
