The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry is seeking candidates for a faculty position at the level of Research Assistant Professor. Job Summary (Purpose and Function):This position will report to Sylvia Daunert, Professor and Chair of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Incumbent will perform research on the mechanism of human DNA interstrand cross-link repair that is linked to drug resistance and the cancer-prone syndrome such as Fanconi anemia in Dr. Yanbin Zhang's lab. The appointment will be for a period of two years with an option for renewal based upon satisfactory performance and availability of funding . Research topics include but not limited to biochemical dissection of Fanconi anemia proteins in damage repair. The incumbent must hold a doctoral degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or related areas. Applicants with background in nucleic acids metabolism and cancer biology will receive favorable consideration. The incumbent is expected to be a team player to further both their personal training as well as collaborative research efforts.Minimum Qualifications(Essential Requirements):Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or other biological science . Experience in biochemistry, DNA metabolism, cancer biology, protein engineering, cell sorting, and fluorescence microscopy, preferred.
