The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Crohn’s and Colitis Center is are announcing a 1 year Advanced IBD Fellowship for qualified, board certified or board eligible individuals who will have completed an adult or pediatric gastroenterology fellowship within the last five years. The year will combine clinical IBD training, advanced IBD-related procedures, and research. related to IBD , including Procedural skills include chromo endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, deep small bowel enteroscopy and perianal endoscopic ultrasonography, and research. You will have the opportunity to work with our radiologist, pathologists, and surgeons to master the interdisciplinary art of treating patients with IBD. We have over 1,500 patients in our IBD repository, including blood, tissue, and clinical demographics with probably the richest and most diverse Hispanic population of patients with IBD, which provides great opportunities for scholarly work. Approximately 20% of time will devoted to clinical and/or translational research in inflammatory bowel disease, which includes genotype-phenotype studies using our database IBD registry and investigator--initiated and pharmaceutical-sponsored clinical trials. Educational exposure to the role of mucosal immunology, genetics, and intestinal biology in caring for IBD patients will be stressed.
