Design and Production Manager

Job description




The Design and Production Manager works with the Campus Services Marketing Department. Responsibilities include the creation, maintenance, tracking and completion of all design work throughout the entire workflow process from request to delivery and/or installation.




Duties/Physical Demands:


Responsible for managing all workflow related to print to include the operation of equipment, vendor services, and internal and external services related to print.


Act as Account Manager for assigned areas of Campus Services by creating, managing, and implementing the Marketing Plan


Provide reports and fiscal accountability on equipment/supply purchasing, contracts, and maintenance, and monthly resource usage to leadership for fiscal planning.


Manage marketing student staff to include hiring, scheduling, managing workflow, project assignment, work evaluation across all areas of design and media.


Work with account reps and print shop staff to plan and execute print projects including estimating, purchasing materials, maintaining equipment, managing deadlines, establishing a production schedule, and delivering final pieces.  In-house and on-site installation of various types of vinyl, wall mounted frames, banners, etc to a high level of detail and quality work.


Initiate graphics creation and lead the process of development, production, and implementation of tactical marketing initiatives aimed at increasing customer retention strengthening brand image, increasing margins, and increasing market share for assigned Campus Service Departments.  



Working Conditions:


Ability to stand for long periods, lift 50+ lbs to load printers and transport materials, climb ladders to perform vinyl and other signage installations, use utility and X-Acto knives on a daily basis




Minimum Qualifications:


Associate’s degree, or vocational or technical school degree in Graphic Design, Strategic Communications, Marketing or Management related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or 1-3 years experience.


A familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).


Basic understanding of Graphic Design and best practices.


Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and maintain a high level of productivity and quality, achieve success working without supervision and in a team environment.


Follow detailed instructions and retain information, and troubleshoot technical issues in order to move forward with a project.  


Past experience with print shop equipment (ie. traditional wide format printers, folding machine, cutting machine, laminator).  


Understanding and use of design software, this includes concept ideas to the customer operation of digital and large format printing to complete marketing projects
