Primary Function of Organization Unit: North Carolina Cooperative Extension gives our residents easy access to the resources, knowledge, and expertise of NC State University and NC A&T State University. Through educational programs, publications, and events, Cooperative Extension field faculty deliver unbiased, research-based information to North Carolina citizens. Essential Job Duties: The successful candidate selected for the position of 4-H Extension Agent will provide leadership for the total 4-H Youth program and will be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating programs for youth ages 5-19. This position will be responsible for working with adult volunteers to engage youth in positive, informal life-skill development activities. A variety of educational methods such as organized 4-H clubs, school enrichment, social media and other methods may be used. Evaluation of the needs and interests of youth ages 5 - 19 in Carteret County will be conducted and implementation of relevant programs will be expected. Responsibilities will include supervision and recruitment of program staff, training and management of volunteer staff, and evaluating and reporting impacts of program efforts. The person in this position will work with community agencies and groups to design, implement and evaluate community-based educational programs based on the needs of the community.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: A Bachelor's degree in child or youth development, family and consumer sciences, or a related discipline is required. The applicant must be self-directed and possess a strong work ethic. The individual must recognize the importance of teamwork and the ability to work with diverse audiences. Skills in leadership, communication, public relations, and program planning and implementation are required. Volunteer recruitment and development experience as well as program development skills will be important.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: A related Master's degree is preferred.

Necessary Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation are required and must be maintained. In order to operate a state vehicle, a valid driver's license is required and must be maintained.
