Job Description

The Assistant Director of Advising Services, under direction, oversees student, staff, and faculty trailing programs, develops advising policies and procedures, and leads the development of programs focuses on student persistence and success. Advises students concerning their educational and career goals, academic requirements, and related personal concerns provides information on and refers students to University resources that can assist in meeting their needs or solving problems.

This position typically works Monday - Friday; 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. May work beyond normal office hours to include evenings, weekends, and peak times. Travel may be required

Required Education & Experience:
  • Masters degree
  • Six years of related experience working with higher education curriculum, academic programs, or student support programs.


Responsibilities:
  • Assists in directing daily activities of a team of academic advisors.
  • Advises new, returning, and prospective students on developing a plan for academic success.
  • Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of new and continuing programs designed to improve student persistence and success.
  • Develops and implements training programs and resources for student employees, advisors, and faculty.
  • Develops marketing strategies to reach faculty and students.
  • Develops advising policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the planning, advising, and auditing process for programs such as new student orientation (NSO).
  • Serves on various committees.
  • Generates and analyzes data regarding student success and persistence.
