Academic Coordinator Senior
The Director of the Academic Preparation Program for College Readiness (APP) is responsible for the coordination and management of coursework and alternative interventions designed to assist UK students who are determined as not meeting college readiness standards defined by CPE in reading and writing. The goal of the APP for College Readiness is to help students develop the skills and competencies to be successful at UK. This position is also responsible for documenting that any interventions offered by UK have been evaluated as meeting statewide competencies per disciplinary pathway.
Collaborating with other academic support units and academic departments, and with the guidance of the APP Faculty Advisory Board, the Director oversees the implementation of APP developmental education and supplemental instruction activities to promote retention and success in subsequent UK courses, particularly the UK Core (general education). The Director of APP will supervise the APP instructional staff in reading and math in partnership with faculty from C&I and Math and collaborate with faculty in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Studies in the delivery of APP courses in writing. It is rare that a developmental educator has expertise in more than one disciplinary area, therefore it is expected that the Director will work closely with faculty and advanced graduate students in areas outside his or her field of study.
This position will work closely with the Transformative Learning Director of Assessment & Analytics to monitor and provide regular reports on the participation in APP courses and the outcomes for students determined to be APP eligible. This reporting also includes regular communication with the APP students' home colleges, including Undergraduate Studies.
The Assistant Director of APP is a member of the Transformative Learning team, and will serve as an academic liaison for APP students with other programs in Transformative Learning and with other academic support units to ensure just-in-time supports to APP students who may experience academic difficulty.

Standing and presenting/teaching classes or programs; Push/pull/carry up to 25 lbs of materials for presenting/tabling; and long periods of computer use.
Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.; and occasional evenings and weekends.
All Microsoft Office apps, SharePoint, SAP, exceptional leadership, organization, interpersonal skills.
A successful candidate for this position will have a strong background in developmental education, experience working with college students, the ability to work with online course management and assessment programs, excellent analytic and communication skills, and a familiarity with UK academic programs and policies.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?
First hand knowledge of UK Undergraduate Curriculum, particularly UK CORE preferred.
