Position Summary: Arkansas State University-Jonesboro is currently recruiting for a tenure-track assistant professor in First-Year Writing and Writing Studies to begin August 2016.

Faculty members deliver instruction, carry out research, perform service for their respective professions and community, and participate in the management of the University through shared governance. Each member of the faculty has the duty to deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession. The faculty has a responsibility to set degree requirements, assess when they are met, and establish and maintain curricula that meet professional standards and fulfill the educational goals of the University.


In addition to maintaining a research agenda and meeting reasonable campus service expectations, this colleague will: teach First-Year Writing and upper-level writing courses, such as Intro to Writing Studies, Practical Writing, Technical Writing, Advanced Composition, and/or others based on experience.

General Days/Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., either a MWF or TR teaching schedule

Knowledge/Skills/Ability: We are seeking a dynamic, qualified colleague who uses modern composition methods and pedagogies in the classroom who is also working on compelling research in Writing Studies.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in English Rhetoric and Composition.

Experience in teaching rhetoric/composition at the university level.
