Position Summary

The Department of Social Work and Sociology at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCAT) invites applications for two (2) tenure track faculty positions at the Associate level and the Department Social Work at the University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications for one (1) tenure track faculty position at the Associate or Full professor rank. The 9-month appointments will begin August 2019 (1 at UNCG and 2 at NCAT). Applicants should apply to either NCAT (2 positions) or to UNCG (1 position).
UNCG and its sister school, North Carolina A&T State University's BSW programs have had a unified field placement/seminar program in place for 44 years, a joint MSW (JMSW) program for 20 years and has been approved to launch a joint PhD Program (JPHD) which will have its first cohort of students in Fall 2019. Faculty are expected to teach across programs and participate in the lives of the respective departments; however, the candidates chosen for this position will primarily be expected to help refine the doctoral curriculum, teach in the doctoral program, supervise dissertations, and participate on dissertation committees. Candidates are required to have an MSW degree from an accredited social work program, a doctoral degree in social work or closely related discipline. Prefer a minimum of two (2) years post-master's professional practice experience, and Clinical, managerial licensure, and/or certifications would be pluses. Candidates considered for this position must also have doctoral level teaching experience, have served on dissertation committees with candidates successfully completing their doctoral degrees. The candidate must have a scholarly record of demonstrated expertise and leadership in one of social work's fields of practice through winning research grants, writing in scholarly journals, serving on grant review panels, and serving on academic and community governance boards.

Applicants are sought with demonstrated community engaged scholarship. We desire to enhance the existing research strengths in our Departments, Schools, and Universities, which is interdisciplinary, and in partnership with community agencies.

Candidates must have demonstrated ability to conduct impactful scholarly research, and have publications in peer-reviewed journals and work in wider circulated professional and public venues. They should have an active and well-articulated research agenda coupled with demonstrated ability to continue to secure external grant funding.
