Principal Admitting Worker/Medical Assistant

The Principal Admit Worker (PAW) is a critical front line position in a busy practice in south Orange county. The PAW is one of the initial contacts our patients make after making an appointment with the clinic. The individual professionalism, friendly and accommodating personality is essential to the success of the Patient Experience. The PAW provides customer service to all ages of patients who seek and obtain health services from our providers. The candidate is instrumental in facilitating patient flow in the clinic. The PAW works with AWs, MAs and providers to manage the patient flow within the clinic on a daily basis by ensuring and procuring that authorizations for patients visits are approved by their insurance prior to the patients visit. HIPAA is a primary concern of all staff, and must be respected and is expected to be followed.
Using multiple UC Irvine electronic and paper registration systems the candidate, determines insurance eligibility, and procures authorizations 7 days prior the patients visits. The PAW works closely with our AWs and MAs regarding appointments and cancelation of patient visits when necessary, i.e., if authorizations for the visit(s), treatment or procedure is not approved. The PAW also can assist front desk personnel to confirm appointments, procedures. Also, PAW follows through on messages to providers and back to patient when directed. The candidate is responsible for verifying all insurance co-pay and deductibles amounts and can assist front desk staff in collections. They must have proven cash handling skills with accurate daily reconciliation.

Salary: Hourly $21.28 - $23.50
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
