General Summary

The Research Graduate Assistant performs research as a majority of their service. Working closely with one or more faculty members, assist with scholarly activities or research. Potentially includes all phases of research from design through literature review, data collection, analysis, writing, and preparation/presentation of findings.

The Research Graduate Assistant receives a stipend and a tax-exempt tuition waiver.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Will participate in activities designed to support faculty teaching, scholarship and service, including tutoring international students in ESL, writing/editing TESOL section publications, and promoting ESL and TESOL initiatives on campus and beyond.

Other departmental related duties as required.

Qualifications

Ability to work up to 20 hours per week (10 for 50%) is required.

GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.

Admission and enrollment in a graduate program is required.

Maintenance of a 67% course completion is required.

Enrollment in at least 6 credits for Fall and Winter semesters is required.

Supplemental Information

**Please Note** This position is only for students in the MA-TESOL program. Students may be offered 50% or 100% positions to work with one specific faculty member to support research and scholarly activities.

For a full-time GA appointment, the University provides a tuition scholarship for up to 18 credit hours in each academic year (September 1 to August 31) of the assistantship.

For graduate assistants who are appointed to part-time positions and for GAs who begin employment after the start of the semester, the number of credit hours covered by the award will be prorated.
