General Summary

The School of Visual and Built Environments invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in Simulation, Animation, and Gaming; the appointment will start in fall 2019.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teach courses in the field of Simulation, Animation and Gaming including modeling, texturing, animating, cameras, lighting, rigging, compositing, dynamics, environmental design, and Senior Design Capstone courses. These courses may include and not limited to Maya, 3dsMax, Photoshop, After Effects, Inventor, Illustrator, or Unity.
Assign and submit grades in accordance with established University schedules.

Keep posted office hours during the week, which are scheduled at times most beneficial to students.

Provide course advising to students.

Perform related school duties as required.

Practice collegial and professional relationships with faculty within the program, department, college and university.


Master's degree or doctoral candidacy or completion in Simulation, Animation, and/or Gaming or any closely related area. B.Sc. Degree with at least 4 years of professional experience in the area of Simulation, Animation, and/or Gaming may be considered for this position.

Documented knowledge of the key concepts and applications in the field of Simulation, Animation, and Gaming including modeling, texturing, animating, cameras, lighting, rigging, compositing dynamics or environmental design.

Documented ability to learn and adapt to new teaching content areas and software.

Excellent written communication skills and interpersonal communication skills.

Desired Skills:
High level of proficiency with Maya, 3dsMax, Photoshop, After Effects, Inventor, Revit, and/or Unity is highly desirable.

Documented experience working with nontraditional and returning students.

Documented experience working with online course software.

Proven skills in directing student and/or team projects.

Two-to four-years of simulation based instructional experience including training and application.

Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Capable of designing and redesigning course content for Simulation Animation and/or Gaming courses, including tests, quizzes, weekly assignments, projects and portfolios.

Capable of working well in collaborative work environments.

Capable of directing independent studies.

Capable of reviewing textbooks and other course materials, which are under consideration for inclusion in the Simulation, Animation and Gaming courses.
