The Albion College Department of Athletics invites applications for the position of Assistant Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach. This is a 10 month administrative position with employment beginning as soon as possible.  Albion College offers 23 intercollegiate sports as a NCAA Division III liberal arts institution and a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.  This position will be responsible for supporting the Head Coach in all aspects of leading Albion College’s NCAA Division III Men’s  and Women’s Cross Country program.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: a)create and implement practice and game plans, b)serve as an assistant to the Head Track and Field Coach for the indoor and outdoor track season, c) create recruiting plans and relationships that will lead to identifying and attracting outstanding student-athletes,  d)provide guidance to student-athletes regarding their academic and overall success ,  e)participate in fundraising events for the program and athletic department, f)maintain working knowledge of NCAA, MIAA, and Albion College policies and procedures,  g) other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.  This is a full-time 10 month appointment (Aug. 1 – May 31) that begins as soon as possible.

Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1 to 2 years experience coaching at the varsity high school level or higher; or 4 to 5 years of combined experience as a NCAA Cross Country or Track &Field athlete or student manager and competitive coach.   
  • Must have a valid, or be eligible to obtain, a Michigan driver’s license and clearing initial and periodic driving record checks
