Assistant Professor - Management Information Systems
Management Information Systems: The Departments of Business Administration & Accounting and Computer & Information Sciences at Hartwick College invite applications for a joint full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2019, pending final administrative approval. We seek candidates with expertise in Management Information Systems, with preference given to those with a PhD in Management Information Systems or a related discipline by the time of appointment. Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree in Management Information Systems or a related discipline by the time of the appointment, professional experience in systems design or management, and evidence of teaching excellence.
Specific teaching assignments will include Introduction to Business, Business Information Systems, Business System Design, Operations, Risk Management and Compliance and possibly general education courses, including First Year Seminars. Teaching load will average 20 semester credit hours or their equivalent per academic year, and all faculty members teach during the College’s distinctive four-week January Term. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching, active engagement in scholarly or creative activities, and working closely with students in a small college environment. Our departments embrace entrepreneurship and promote active teaching and experiential community-based learning in a small undergraduate liberal arts setting, with the expectation that faculty maintain an active research agenda complimentary to their course interests. Committee service and academic advising also are expected for tenure and promotion.
