The College of Charleston (Charleston, SC) welcomes applications for the position of Purchasing/Procurement Officer. The successful candidate will: (i) develop and review specifications for use in acquisitions and administer the solicitation process to ensure compliance with SC Procurement Code and regulations; (ii) analyze, evaluate, and prepare bids/proposals and consult with buyers, customers, and vendors; (iii) facilitate the administration of awarded contracts and process solicitation documents under the direction of the Assistant Director and the Director of Procurement; (iv) maintain accurate purchasing and order/contract records and monitor and analyze past purchase actions, review market information, and make recommendations to management to improve efficiency; (v) develop and design cost saving strategies; (vi) teach strategic procurement/contract management courses to undergraduate students and collaborate in the development of such courses; and (vii) represent the College and participate in statewide user groups related to purchasing activities.
Qualifications: U.S. Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Public Administration, Accounting, or a related field, or a foreign equivalent degree. In addition, to qualify for an instructional appointment at the College of Charleston, must have completed at least 18 graduate hours in a discipline related to the area of instruction. The position also requires three (3) years of procurement or contract management experience in a public institution or higher education environment.
