LAB ANIMAL TECHNICIAN, Research Compliance, Lab Animal Care Facility

Provides husbandry of animals in areas of the animal facility which can include barrier facilities, aquatic facilities, bio-containment, large animal, quarantine areas. Maintains supplies, feed, and bedding inventories and storage. Trains entry and mid-level technicians. Performs all the technical skills of the lower positions, may also work with researchers on doing more specialized techniques. Participates in the sentinel program, import and quarantine of non-commercial animals/strains. Other duties such as facilities sanitization/decontamination, equipment preventative maintenance, and inspections of rooms prior to normal inspections, animal census inventory, animal receiving, . Maintain facility according to Boston University and government policies, procedures and standards; and in general, ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines and regulations. Incumbents Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations; review all area operations and records; and perform other related duties as required. In addition incumbents may perform a number of Para-veterinary procedures including, administering medications and, euthanizing animals.

3 years experience. AALAS ALAT preferred or within 12 months
