Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Campus Police department at North Carolina State University is responsible for providing the most reasonable level of safety and security for the protection of life and property of students, faculty, staff and visitors of the campus community. Being a full sized police department, the department functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round with sworn officers, non-sworn full-time employees and part-time employees.

Essential Job Duties: The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative assistance for the Chief of Police, and assist with other departmental administrative functions as necessary for the support of the University Police Department. Responsibilities of this position shall include, but not limited to: * Preparation of documents and reports * Use of office technology * Organize and maintain files, serve as back up for records management * Serve as front desk receptionist, assists visitors, clients, staff and others, mail distribution and departmental mailings, coordinate travel arrangements as necessary, maintain and order departmental office supplies, monitor traffic in the front office, keeping the area orderly with supplies stocked, and other general administrative duties * Serve as the Building Liaison, responsible for overseeing maintenance and repair of building and fixtures. * Coordinate card reader door access and key issuance for University Police Department * Maintain and update the department employee lists.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: * Ability to prioritize when pressed with competing deadlines. * Ability to exercise active listening and provide appropriate feedback as determined by the situation * Excellent grammar * Knowledge of business writing standards and guidelines. * Experience with Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint. * Experience with GSuite. * Ability to compile information and present it in a logical manner. * Ability to understand University and Police Department services, policies and procedures, and the ability to demonstrate and apply this knowledge in the performance of supporting the day-to-day operations of the University Police Department, with the ability to explain and interpret information to clients, customers and staff. * Ability to communicate effectively in writing via emails, memos, and other required documents. The ability to proofread documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic formatting as necessary. * Ability to communicate verbally, clearly and effectively to staff and members of the public regarding services, processes, and procedures relating to the University Police Department function.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Graduation from high school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Licenses and Certifications: Must have a Notary public license issued by the State of North Carolina.
