Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Division of Academic and Student Affairs (DASA) is a unique organization that integrates curricular and co-curricular components to improve the academic performance of our students and the quality of academic and non-academic experiences at NC State University. Essential Job Duties: The Maintenance Mechanic for Western Manor Apartments will perform plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, electrical, and household appliance repair and preventative maintenance services so that the buildings are kept in good repair and meet all local, state, and federal regulations for safe and habitable housing. The Maintenance Mechanic will complete assigned work orders and process information through the use of an online work order system. The Maintenance Mechanic will also oversee and train student maintenance staff.
Department Required Skills: * Experience at or near journeyman level in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry trades. * Must possess a working knowledge of the methods, practices, and materials used in the general maintenance and repair of residential buildings. * Must have the ability to operate machine shop equipment (including computer), * Ability to follow oral and written instructions * Ability to perform physical tasks for an extended period of time. * Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: At least two or more years of progressing experience at or near journeyman level in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry trades.
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License or be able to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
