The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery in Columbia, Missouri, invites applications for a tenure or non-tenure track faculty appointment in equine surgery. The position is available at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank depending on qualifications and experience. Academic responsibilities: Clinical and teaching efforts are anticipated to be 70-80% of total FTE for non-tenure track positions and is negotiable for tenure track positions. The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Instruct and mentor professional veterinary students, interns, residents and graduate students in clinical and didactic settings.
- Provide health care and service to equine surgery and lameness patients of the Veterinary Health Center
- Contribute to the after-hours emergency service;
- Advise and consult with referring veterinarians and clients regarding equine surgery and lameness cases;
- Produce scholarly output that may include collaborative clinical and/or basic research activity, development of novel teaching/clinical tools, and authorship of manuscripts, review articles or book chapters;
- Provide leadership and direction to residents and graduate students;
- Effectively communicate and work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies;
- Participate in committee assignments and curriculum development;
- Contribute original and creative ideas for teaching, service and research directions.
- A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (such as VMD, BVSc);
- ACVS Board Certification is preferred, but board eligible candidates will be considered.
- Ability to maintain a regular or faculty Missouri veterinary license.You can find more information at: .

- A valid driver's license.
An advanced research degree, although not required, will be favorably considered.
Candidates will be assessed based upon educational and professional achievement. Clinical experience, organizational skills, experience working effectively in diverse environments (including those within the industry including veterinarians, trainers, owners and internal and external stakeholders), teaching experience, research experience, potential to work within the framework of the equine service and letters of reference will all be considered in selection of a candidate.
