About the Position

Reporting to the Director of Equipment Services, the Coordinator of Equipment Services provides coverage to assigned sports in regards to day-to-day operations of the Athletics Equipment Room. The Coordinator of Equipment Services will maintain close contact with the head coaches, directors of operations, and administrative staff; Adhere to university policies, athletics equipment purchasing, budget management, and inventory control measures; Research new and innovative equipment ideas by working closely with outside vendors; Ensure equipment and uniform issue, collection, maintenance, and specifications in accordance with NCAA and conference rules; Monitor, maintain and determine budget purchases in accordance with the sport coaches; and will research, make presentations and request funding in one-time scale purchases.

Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and two years of administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Preferred Qualifications

-Two years relevant work experience in NCAA D-1 Athletics

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

-General knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in competitive sports.
-Working knowledge of preservatives and cleaning materials and techniques used in maintaining athletic equipment.
-Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively.
-Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.
-Ability to quickly learn and apply a variety of state, federal, CSU, NCAA and SJSU policies and procedures.
-Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques.
-Ability to maintain and perform minor repairs of athletic equipment and clothes.
-Ability to plan and carry out responsibilities with limited supervision and direction.
-Adhere to all NCAA and conference guidelines and policies regarding equipment.
-Knowledge of NCAA conference rules and how to apply them.
-Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment, handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan work and projects, and work under strict timelines.
-Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form.
-Working knowledge of software applications: word processing, spreadsheet and database management.
-Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide work lead direction.
-Thorough knowledge of English grammar, business writing, punctuation and spelling; ability to compose and appropriately format correspondence and reports.
-Possession of or ability to obtain an American Red Cross First Aid certificate; Ability to give routine First Aid.
-Ability to successfully pass the SJSU defensive driver training program.
-Ability to work outdoors and indoors, nights and weekends.
