Ithaca College's Department of Media Arts, Sciences and Studies (located in Ithaca, NY) is accepting applications for a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2019. This position offers the successful applicant the opportunity to teach and produce scholarly and/or creative work in one of the strongest undergraduate communication programs in the country.
This position uniquely serves in two exciting programs, TV-R and sports media. Ithaca's TV-R program is routinely nationally recognized for its quality of academic rigor and professional development of young industry practitioners. The faculty has a vast array of experience and diverse areas of professional and academic expertise. Additionally, the sports media program was one of the first established sports media majors in the country and has produced alumni that now work in wide variety of different areas within the sport industry. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to impact the continued success and growth of these two popular majors.
The ideal candidate will be an effective and engaging teacher, have a demonstrated record of professional accomplishment, and bring additional visibility to the program, both within the college and nationally. This person will mentor a culturally diverse student population and promote key values of inclusion within our program. Our professors serve as academic advisors to students and on department, school, and college committees. There is an expectation of peer-reviewed professional activity in the form of juried creative work or scholarly publication.
Successful college teaching experience is required, and a commitment to a liberal arts education within a professional program is expected. Teaching responsibilities will likely include a mix of classes in video and sports production including field production (beginning to advanced) multi-camera studio production (beginning to advanced) and additional courses for which the candidate is qualified. We provide an environment where pedagogical and
curricular innovation is highly valued.
Master's degree and extensive professional experience required. Industry experience in sports production is highly desirable.
