General Summary of Position:

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for two tenure-track (or tenured faculty in exceptional cases) positions in analytical chemistry.

Successful candidates will be expected to: i) develop an independent, vigorous, externally supported research program (in Analytical Chemistry with expertise in chemical/biological sensors, separation science, spectroscopy, metabolomics, or imaging, etc.) that aims to solve real problems in diagnostics, medicine, industry, food science, environmental science, or other areas, ii) demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching chemistry at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, iii) engage in service to the university and community.

The University of Massachusetts Lowell is a leading, public, research university in the greater Boston area and has a national reputation in science, engineering and technology for solving real world problems. The Department of Chemistry offers an ACS-approved B.S. in Chemistry and has very active M.S. and Ph.D. programs, with approximately 150 undergraduate majors and 65 graduate students. Appointees will be provided a competitive start-up package, have access to high-end research equipment and have the opportunity to collaborate with numerous research-active colleagues from various science and engineering departments (Biology, Physics, Chemical Engineering, etc.) and research centers (e.g., Nanofabrication Center, Fabric Center, UMass Med-UMass Lowell NeuroNexus Imaging Center, etc).

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
  • A Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field is required

Additional Considerations:
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an established track record of external research funding

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Postdoctoral training or equivalent experience in a relevant field is preferred
