General Summary of Position:

The Art and Design Department at The University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor to start in the Fall Semester of 2019. Primary responsibilities are to provide high-quality teaching and service to the Department. This position is renewable annually, potentially leading to an appointment as Associate Teaching Professor following six consecutive years of outstanding performance evaluations.

Applicants must hold an MFA from a NASAD accredited institution. The teaching load will be three courses per semester.

Responsibilities will consist of teaching existing courses at the undergraduate level in the freshman foundations program with occasional courses in the upper levels. The successful candidate would also be involved in advising undergraduate students, service and high school outreach activities, and actively participating in continuing efforts to improve the department's educational mission. Additionally, the university seeks administrative experience with the Massachusetts DOE Mass Transfer compact and transfer student administration, experience in fundraising and grant writing, experience in developing and teaching freshman art seminar and freshen core courses, and 5 years of experience teaching full time at a four year NASAD accredited institution.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Applicants must hold an MFA
  • Experience and demonstrated excellence teaching at the undergraduate level is required, including a teaching portfolio
