Position Summary:

The Network and Systems Security Team Leader is responsible for the overall direction, operation and coordination of the Network and Systems Security Services areas within Infrastructure Services. This position assists in providing ongoing planning and design of the college's network architecture to include data communications(wired and wireless) security systems and broadcast/video hardware and software. Makes recommendations for the enhancement, upgrades or new products that meet the dynamic needs of the college. Provides leadership to the Network and Security Systems Engineering teams, maintaining partnerships with various Directors, IS teams and customers for infrastructure and security initiatives. This position will manage the projects associated with the infrastructure, security and broadcast/video needs of the organization.

This position is responsible for understanding complex security issues and communicating these issues to both technical and non-technical peers and management. Provide input in the development and enforcement of enterprise-wide policies and provide innovative suggestions to improve existing processes or create new ones where necessary to improve the security posture of the College. This position is required to work with the Director of Information Security, various Information Services team members and other college employees to raise security awareness and provide security technical guidance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provide tactical direction and leadership for the Network Services, Systems Security Services and Broadcast/Video teams. Perform effective management of these teams including job definition, goal and expectation setting, coaching, employee communication and performance appraisals.

Assist in the design and implementation of the processes necessary to ensure effective acquisition, management, security and operation of all hardware and software aspects of college network architecture, including the college local and wide area networks. This includes the coordination of the long term planning that will ensure network capacity meets current and future network requirements.

Lead the development assigned projects according to the systems lifecycle methodology; including, but not limited to: developing requirements; planning; analyzing; designing; identifying budget implications (including staffing) and technical issues; overseeing testing, conversion, documentation, training and implementation tasks; providing for on-going, effective, timely support; specifying necessary or desired acquisitions; and, managing change. Publish and advertise the plans, including deliverables, milestones and dates. Monitor the plans and project schedules and take corrective action.

Assist in the change management processes to ensure that all changes are recorded and evaluated, and that authorized changes are prioritized, planned, tested, implemented, documented and reviewed in a controlled manner.

Coordinate with other IS Managers, Team Leaders and staff to ensure effective communications among the groups.

Works collaboratively with all areas of the college to implement technology solutions to meet current and future needs.

Assist the Director, Infrastructure Services in the creation and administration of various budgets.

Maintain expertise of current trends and provide guidance about direction of various technologies.

Represent Information Services by serving on appropriate college committees to provide input about technology and its future direction.

Work with the Director, Infrastructure Services and other campus personnel and groups to develop technological standards and procedures.

Oversee the development of configuration and performance standards for the enterprise network and security architectures. Implement and monitor controls to ensure standards are maintained.



Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management or Related Field

A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.

Required Professional Level Certification: ie, Extreme Certified Expert, CISSP, Cisco CCNP - Route/Switch

Candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience

Demonstrated ability to plan and monitor large projects

Demonstrated experience designing, building, deploying, migrating, securing and supporting enterprise infrastructure and video/broadcast systems. Experience in managing vendors, licensing and contracts

Technical knowledge of security concepts within networking environments

Demonstrated ability to synthesize employees at various organizational levels into an effective team and provide subsequent, effective guidance for the team. Ability to work independently and as part of a team



Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills, including a strong customer service orientation

Experience in higher education

Knowledge of ITIL framework
