SUNY Empire State College seeks a dynamic Human Resources Specialist (State Title: Personnel Assistant) in the Office of Human Resources located in Saratoga Springs, NY. This individual will be responsible for working closely with the OHR team and college wide staff to provide day-to-day administration of benefit services. This includes assisting and providing guidance to employees regarding health insurance, retirement, paid family leave, family medical leave act, worker's compensation, on-boarding orientation, annual option transfer period, and other benefit responsibilities. The Human Resources Specialist will also assist in various communications to employees, OHR website development and enhancement, developing wellness topics, and conducting training events.
The successful candidate shall have a demonstrated ability to work with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, excellent independent judgement and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. This position will also need to develop collegial working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels, work independently and as part of a team, have strong analytical and decision making skills and should be quality and customer service orientated. Must also possess skills to harness software and technology to maximize human resource efficiencies.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required
- Two or more years of experience in human resources
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and web based systems
- Experience within higher education or the public sector in a human resources role
- VISA sponsorship is not available for this position
