Posting Summary:
The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for multiple opportunities for applicants to join our Department as a post-doctoral research associate. The Department is seeking individuals to work on projects involving health services and outcomes research with a focus on surgical disease, treatment and outcomes. Our health services and outcomes research enterprise supports a number of funded projects as well as projects that are designed to contribute toward the future development of extra-departmental research funding. The post-doctoral research associate will collaborate with and work under the direction of project specific principal investigators. Responsibilities associated with this position include development and refinement of study questions, study design, data preparation, data analysis, preparation of presentations and manuscripts, preparation of applications for external funding, etc.

Candidates must have research experience working with data from a variety of sources, including locally collected medical record-based data, registry data and/or large administrative data sets. Training in the use of and experience with data analysis software such as SAS, Stata, R, etc. is required. Experience with the preparation and submission of research manuscripts to peer-review journals is preferred. Candidates with experience in data management and data sciences are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have been awarded their doctoral degree prior to the start date.
