Job Description

The College of Business is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning in Fall 2019. The appointment is for an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing and Cyber Security to teach undergraduate courses and advise students. The College offers BS degree in Computer Science, BBA degree in Computer Information Systems and the BAAS degree in Information Technology. It plans to offer an MS degree in Computer Science, and a BS degree in Cyber Engineering Technology beginning Fall 2019. The department plans to seek ABET and/or AACSB accreditation for its programs. Job duties require quality performance in teaching, scholarly research and service. Faculty are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems, pursue scholarly research and publication, contribute to curriculum development, participate in professional service activities, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and serve on various committees.

The position requires candidates who may have one or more of the following:
1) Have experience and research expertise in Computer Science (CS)/ Computer Information Systems (CIS), preferably in areas of Cloud Computing, AI/Business Intelligence, Cyber Security, Mobile Computing, Project Management, ERP/CRM/DSS/SAP systems, Business Process Integration, Data Mining, and Data Analytics;
2) Have potential/record of research productivity such as publications in top tier journals and conferences in the field of CS/CIS, working on externally funded competitive grants;
3) Have relevant accredited certification and industry experience in a CS/CIS capacity for accredited businesses
4) Familiar with non-traditional commuter University setting.
5) Experience in working with culturally diverse populations.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate degree in Computer Information Systems or very closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. ABD will be accepted if the requirements for the Ph.D. degree are completed before June 1, 2019.
  • 18 graduate hours in Computer Information Systems / Computer Science.
  • Research experience in the field as demonstrated by professional research oriented publications and/or externally funded research grants.
  • Experience in teaching or assistance in teaching CS/CIS or computing courses at the College or University level.
  • Have demonstrated skills in writing computer application programs using modern languages.
  • Have demonstrated skills in creating business transactions with CIS systems such as CRM, ERP, BI, DSS, etc.
  • Have effective written and oral communications skills.


Preferred qualifications:
  • Have a teaching record in Computer Information Systems, specifically in several of the fields of Business Intelligence, Project Management, ERP/CRM/DSS/SAP systems, Business Process Integration, Data Mining, and Data Analytics.
  • Have relevant certification and industry experience in a CIS capacity.
  • Have potential/record of research productivity such as publications in top tier journals and conferences in the field of CIS.
  • Experience with Learning Management System such as Blackboard.
  • Experience with delivery of hybrid/blended classes.
  • Experience in program and course development.
  • Familiar with non-traditional commuter University setting.
  • Experience in working with culturally diverse populations.
