The Lewis Center for the Arts (LCA) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with excellent skills in web development and social media management to join a highly active team effort to promote the work of the Center.
The Lewis Center is the academic unit of the University comprised of the programs in creative writing, dance, music theater, theater, visual arts and the Princeton Atelier offering more than 75 courses each semester and presenting more than 130 public events each year.
Reporting to the Director of Communications at the Lewis Center, this position plays a key role within the communications team, helping to tell the story of the Center, its academic programs, people and public programming, and to raise the visibility of the arts at Princeton through the creative and effective use of the web and digital media.
Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required to staff events, photo or video shoots, or to meet deadlines.

Design and technical leadership in the ongoing enhancement and oversight of the Lewis Center's main website, arts.princeton.edu, and of other peripheral web properties, built in WordPress, including:
- Conduct software and system updates;
- In concert with LCA communications staff, publish and edit web content (courses, events, news, bios, videos, image galleries);
- Brainstorm, pitch, research and write new features for the web;
- Interface with hosting company, University Office of Information Technology, and outside vendors or contractors for development support and troubleshooting, as needed;
- Conduct regular tests and provide reports on website performance, user analytics, search engine visibility, and accessibility;
- and Administration of online application forms and faculty review systems.
Chief oversight of the Lewis Center's social media presence (@princetonarts) on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, including:
- Publish regular updates on events and news relating to Lewis Center students, faculty, alumni, and visiting artists;
- Mobilize and support students, staff and others to participate in developing and sharing content for social media;
- Collaborate with University colleagues to boost visibility for the arts on other campus accounts;
- Manage social media advertising campaigns, as needed;
- Provide periodic reports on social media performance.
Multimedia content strategy and development including:
- Periodic photography, videography and video editing;
- Coordination and oversight of student photography and videography assistants;
- Maintenance of a digital archive of images and video and coordination with Lewis Center colleagues and others across campus to document and disseminate multimedia assets;
- Collaboration with in-house filmmaker to plan and produce videos such as event promotions (trailers), interviews/profiles, and documentary features.
Participation in Lewis Center and University-wide communications initiatives, particularly those which relate to the web and/or information technology, such as calendars, project management, digital displays, etc.
The above responsibilities require a strong mix of technical, communications and personal skills, as well as experience with creative presentation of dynamic content in a heavily deadline-driven environment. Essential qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in the communications or technology field;
- Minimum of 5 years direct experience in web development and/or the oversight of a robust and heavily trafficked website;
- Demonstrated strength in identifying creative, cost-effective solutions for evolving requirements and ability to think strategically about technology;
- Familiarity with Google analytics, search engine optimization strategies, and web accessibility best practices;
- Basic photo and video editing and management skills;
- Experience with managing an institutional Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram presence;
- Excellent analytical ability, creativity, attention to detail, and skill in expressing technical terms to those less familiar with media and technology;
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, organizational, presentation and communication skills;
- Effective time management and work prioritization skills;
- Ability to work well in a service-oriented, dynamic team environment partnering with faculty, staff and students.
- Interest in and passion for the arts;
- Experience working in the higher education, nonprofit and/or cultural sectors;
- Advanced skills in video editing and management.
