Description:

The Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell (http://medicine.hofstra.edu) seeks two qualified clinician educators to mentor small groups of medical students in their professional development throughout all four years of medical school. The successful candidates will facilitate small group sessions that focus on building skills in communications and reflection, developing a humanistic approach to the practice of medicine and address challenging topics in healthcare.  Faculty development and faculty guides will be provided for all sessions; ongoing faculty development is required.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants must possess a MD or DO degree and be willing to engage in a student-centered curriculum with emphasis on learning rather than teaching.  Prior experience in medical education, particularly facilitating small group sessions, is desired but not a prerequisite. This is a part time position, with varying hours that will be scheduled in advance based on curricular needs, with a time commitment typically 3 or 6 hours per week. Applicants must be flexible and be able to adjust their work hours to meet curricular needs that could change weekly.  Faculty appointment will be commensurate with experience.

Application Instructions:
Applicants are invited to submit a cover letter that describes the applicant’s interest in the position, current curriculum vitae, and contact information for three professional references to: [email protected]

Hofstra University is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fostering diversity in its faculty, administrative staff and student body, and encourages applications from the entire spectrum of a diverse community.
