The University of West Georgia Tanner Health System School of Nursing strives for “educational excellence in a caring environment” with over 500 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. SON instructional facilities are state of the art including spectacular lab and simulation spaces in Carrollton and Newnan. The pre- licensure BSN program, offered in Newnan and Carrollton, features an innovative concept-based BSN curriculum with excellent outcomes. The RN to BSN program is 100% online. Our graduate programs are completely online and have been ranked in the top 50 online programs by the US News and World Report for five consecutive years. The MSN offers tracks in Nursing Education or Health Systems Leadership with an option for the AACN Clinical Nurse Leader Role. The EdD in Nursing Education program admitted the seventh cohort fall of 2018 and is an innovative program designed to prepare nurses for the faculty role.
Position Description: Tenure-track academic-year faculty appointment available with a start date of August 1st, 2019. Applicants are sought in all clinical specialty areas as well as those with backgrounds in informatics, nurse practitioner experience, nursing education, and nursing leadership. Responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate teaching in online and traditional classroom settings; simulation, laboratory and clinical instruction; and scholarly productivity in a supportive environment.
Qualifications: Applicants are required to hold a Master’s degree in nursing with a clinical background in specialty area(s), an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field, and have an active RN license to practice nursing in the states of Georgia and Alabama (or eligible). Preferred qualifications include certified nurse practitioners with doctoral degrees, teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels, a record of accomplishment in working with diverse populations of students, and evidence of a scholarly program, broadly defined. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
