Visiting Assistant Professor in African and African Diaspora Religions
The Religious Studies Department at St. Lawrence University invites applications for a one-year visiting position at the assistant professor level, in religions of Africa and/or the African diaspora. St. Lawrence University is a liberal arts institution, with a 3-3 teaching load and class sizes ranging from 10-25 students. The successful candidate will offer courses that complement current offerings. Applicants should be conversant with academic method and theory in the study of religion. Teaching obligations will include the department’s introduction to the academic study of religion, REL 100 Mystery and Meaning, sophomore-level courses in the applicant’s area of expertise, and a junior-level seminar of the applicant’s own design.
PhD in Religious Studies or related field strongly preferred (ABD candidates may also be considered).
