The Center for Orthopaedic Biomechanics has recently moved into a new building, with world-class facilities, including a full motion capture laboratory with stereo radiography, experimental biomechanics laboratory with 6DOF joint simulator and mechanical test frames, implant retrieval laboratory, and computational biomechanics laboratory. The University of Denver was founded in 1864 and is the oldest private University in the Rocky Mountain region. The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering offers graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Bioengineering. Position Summary

An opening is available for an industry and federally funded Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the in the Center for Orthopaedic Biomechanics in Computational Biomechanics at the University of Denver in human multiscale musculoskeletal modeling and simulation. Qualified candidates may also be considered for Research Faculty appointment within the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to lead and conduct advanced research projects, and interface on these projects with industry and federal sponsors, graduate students, and faculty. Excellent post-doctoral salary available, including benefits. Starting date negotiable, fall 2018 or winter 2019 preferred.

COMPUTATIONAL BIOMECHANICS: Current research interests include dynamic finite element modeling of the natural and implanted knee and hip, and multi-scale musculoskeletal modeling of the full lower extremity.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering or related field.
  • Experience with tissue and/or musculoskeletal modeling and simulation.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis and proficiency with commercial FEA codes.
  • Proficiency with programming languages (e.g. C++, Python, Matlab).
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with custom code development and/or custom scripting of commercial FEA packages.
  • Proficiency with multi-body dynamics simulation, nonlinear constrained optimization techniques, and probabilistic methods.
  • Experience with laboratory data collection methods and data post-processing.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
