Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
PhD (or foreign equivalent or higher) in the Physical or Biological Sciences, at least one first-authored publication demonstrating relevant experience, able to work autonomously and collaborate with a diverse team of scientists, strong written and spoken communication skills. Hands on experience in one or more of the following: Collection of quantitative fluorescence microscopy data, Kinetic analysis/modeling of biological phenomena, Scientific programming and image analysis in MATLAB, and/or Construction and maintenance of microscopy instrumentation.
Hand on experience in one or more of the following: Single molecule and/or Super-Resolved Microscopy, Live cell imaging, Single particle tracking and/or Familiarity with metamorph, LabVIEW, Igor.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Physiology and Biophysics to develop, execute, and publish research projects related to clustering of glutamate receptors and scaffold-mediated protein interactions. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
- Perform hands-on data collection involving imaging of fluorescently-labeled recombinant proteins in lipid bilayers.
- Analyze flourescence microscopy data to extract information about protein structure and function
- Participate/assist in abstract/manuscript writing for publication in peer reviewed journals and/or presenting at meetings . May also assist in grant writing.
- Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
- Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
