Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or DO, BC/BE Obstetrics and Gynecology.



Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Two years experience providing ambulatory and inpatient obstetrics preferred. Ability to obtain current delivery privileges required.

Appointment at clinical associate professor rank would require documented credentials appropriate to the rank and review by the UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) promotion and appointment committee for the Clinical Teacher Track.



License or certificate:

Eligible for Wisconsin medical license. Certification or credentialed in Fetal monitoring through NCC or PQF required. Advanced fetal monitoring skills, certification required.

Simulation training and Team STEPPS trainer preferred.



Position Summary:

The UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in collaboration with Unity Point - Meriter Hospital is recruiting for a team of obstetrical hospitalists. The hospitalist position is a role developed to enhance the superior quality and safety of the largest delivering hospital in the State of Wisconsin. This team of physicians will provide support for OB patient needs, but also will provide added backup for the full scope delivering providers to ensure the safety of all obstetrical patients admitted to Unity Point - Meriter Hospital. Duties include clinical patient care and clinical communications and interface with medical students, residents and fellows.

Knowledge of OB Safety Bundles. Knowledge of Maternal Early Warning Criteria.

Effectively communicates with all members of the health care team, using Team STEPPS tools as appropriate. Demonstrates leadership and team building skills. Works in a fast-paced setting that may require prolonged standing and walking. May involve transfer of patients and exposure to blood and body fluids.
