Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of U.Va.'s buildings, infrastructure and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Carpenter Senior
who supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost effective, and reliable maintenance and service to the University facilities and providing safe working conditions for Facilities Management. The incumbent will be responsible for the remodeling of buildings, hanging doors and setting windows, cutting and framing openings. The Carpenter Senior performs interior and exterior trim work, shop repairs, as well as builds cabinets, work tables, bookcases, etc. The position repairs, installs and finishes millwork casework, or other products.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of 7 years of experience working in all aspects of carpentry methods, tools, and materials is required. A valid driver's license, with a positive points balance is also required for this position. A demonstrated ability to read, understand and follow blue prints, sketches and specifications, as well as demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to perform manual labor and to work from heights is also required. A demonstrated ability to provide technical assistance and guidance is also required. Carpenter Seniors must be able to work nights and weekends on an as needed basis and to work an adjusted schedule as needed to meet deadlines. Experience working in a health system, have ICRA training and the ability to do estimates and order materials is preferred.
