Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics Section of Hematology, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplantation has an opening for a full-time Instructor - Advanced Practice Provider position. This position will serve as a Faculty member of Peds Hem/Onc/BMT located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. You will be based at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) Anschutz site of practice. You will have a 1.0 CFTE clinical effort.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Provide independent care of pediatric hematology-oncology patients on the inpatient hospital service, in partnership with the inpatient team.
  • Provide independent care of pediatric hematology-oncology patients in the outpatient clinic and infusion center.
  • Write chemotherapy orders in collaboration with physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Provide coordination of care between the inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Participate in the treatment of patients on clinical research protocols
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary care
  • Coordinate and assist with education of new patients and families
  • Participate in Quality/Safety, and Process Improvement Initiatives
  • Provide educational support to nursing and support staff
  • Perform procedures independently: Lumbar punctures with intrathecal chemotherapy administration and Bone marrow aspirations/biopsies
  • This position will also have holiday, and weekend (approx. 4X/year) "call" responsibilities, for which time off during the week is not provided.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is $90,100 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (MSN, MPAS)
  • Nurse Practitioner (Pediatrics or Family) or Physician Assistant
  • Eligible for licensure to practice within the state of Colorado
  • Eligible for Prescriptive Authority; if not currently certified, completing this process will be required within the first year of employment
  • Acute Care certification

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background and sex offender registry check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate clearly and effectively with staff and faculty within and outside the section, department and/or hospital
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and families
  • Strong organizational stills
  • Strong advocacy skills
  • Knowledge of best practices in patient safety and quality care
  • Ability to write orders, including diagnostic tests, medications, care instructions, and adding to patients medical record
  • Ability to perform procedures including but not limited to: lumbar punctures and bone marrow aspirates

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in pediatric hematology-oncology
  • Familiarity with medical Spanish
  • Experience with clinical trials
