Position Description: The University of Northern Iowa's College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences- Department of Technology is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The responsibilities of the position include instruction of Graphic Communication, Digital Imaging/Photography, and Graphic Communications Estimating and Management courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Department, as well as other courses as assigned by the department head; participation in departmental, college, and university committee activities; undergraduate and graduate student advising, industry and prospective student outreach, and pursuit of scholarly activities.

Education Requirements: Earned doctorate degree by appointment date from an accredited institution and program emphasis in graphic communications in one degree (preferably at bachelor's and/or master's degree level).
Required Qualification: Required qualifications include technical proficiencies in prepress, press, and post-press operations; reproduction photography; web-based technology; working competency with industrial imaging using equipment and processes in the areas of offset lithography, flexography (relief), gravure, and photographic screen processes and other reproduction techniques; experience with various types of instruction, instructional technology, and multi-media activities to include software application; effective use of verbal and written communications skills. Candidates must show evidence of, or previous successful teaching and course development in lab-intensive graphics and visualization technology programs with a focus in digital communications and graphic communications management areas.
Desirable Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated evidence of course development and successful instructional experiences in graphic arts/communication laboratory environments at the postsecondary, secondary, or higher educational levels and/or allied industrial experience; demonstrated strong commitment toward teaching, applied research, and obtaining external funding; record of academic scholarship and/or awards; involvement in professional organizations associated with graphic communications, or allied areas; industry experience in graphic communications and digital media; experience in accreditation and academic program assessment with undergraduate programs; experience with setting up and maintaining articulation agreements with community colleges; and proven success in marketing and recruiting high quality students.
