The Department of Educational Leadership, Foundations, and Policy in the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia (UVa) seeks applicants for a non-tenure track assistant professor position in the Higher Education program. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and advising new and continuing master's and doctoral students. The incumbent will ensure the continued excellence and expansion of the M.Ed. and Ed.D. programs in Higher Education through work with faculty in Higher Education and in collaboration with other programs. The Higher Education M.Ed. and Ed.D. will be offered on-Grounds, with potential for off-site and online delivery.
An earned doctorate in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a closely related discipline is required by the start date of the position. Candidates must have a record of teaching courses in Higher Education Administration and/or Student Affairs. Experience in the scholarship and practice of higher education administration, college student experience, governance of colleges and universities, institutional finance and budgeting, and/or legal issues within higher education is required. Experience working as an administrative professional in college/university administration or student affairs is also required. Candidates must also have an explicit commitment to, and accomplishments in, teaching, research, and/or service that contributes to advancing understanding of and positive outcomes for underrepresented groups, and to diversity more broadly.
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with program planning, implementation and assessment, internship development and coordination, advising and mentoring, and/or experience in guiding career and professional development. Familiarity and engagement with national and regional higher education/student affairs associations is also preferred.
