The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks multiple candidates to join the faculty as tenure-ineligible Clinical Instructors for its fellowships. These fellowship programs are designed to produce national leaders in their respective areas of Emergency Medicine. Positions are available in Administration (Director: John Riordan, MD); Medical Education (Directors: J. Stephen Huff, MD / Amita Sudhir, MD); Trauma Research (Director: Mark Sochor, MD); and Cardiovascular Emergencies (Directors: Chris Ghaemmaghami, MD / David Burt, MD).
Successful applicants must have completed an ABEM/ABOEM accredited Emergency Medicine residency or ABEM/ABOEM accredited Emergency Medicine fellowship and be eligible to obtain clinical privileges in the Department of Emergency Medicine prior to July 2019. Incumbents must be board-certified or board-eligible, have an MD or DO, and demonstrate a genuine passion in the area of interest to which they apply. New faculty development is heavily emphasized by the directors of each fellowship program.
The University of Virginia Medical Center is a 600-bed tertiary care and Level 1 Trauma center located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville. The UVA Emergency Department treats an annual volume of >60,000 patients inclusive of adult and pediatrics. We have a well-established residency program with a stable group of excellent faculty members who are active regionally, nationally, and internationally in teaching, research, and advocacy.
