Requisition Title: Assistant / Associate / Full Professor - Neurosurgery - 1700511
Applications are invited for a position in the Division of Neurosurgery at St. Michael's Hospital, a fully affiliated hospital with the University of Toronto. The effective date of this appointment is January 1st, 2018- September 2018.
The successful candidate will be a Neurosurgeon with a subspecialty in endoscopic and skull base neurosurgery. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required. It is expected that this individual will conduct basic, translational and /or clinical research in their area of research interest. Other responsibilities include patient care, teaching and trainee supervision that are aligned with the goals of the Neurosurgical Program, Keenan Research Centre and Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute.
The successful candidate must hold a Fellowship in Neurosurgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) and hold, or be eligible for an independent practice license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. He/she will have, or be working towards a Master's Degree or PhD in a relevant field. He/she will be eligible for appointment in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto at a rank commensurate with his/her qualifications and academic achievements, starting with Assistant Professor.
St. Michael's Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma centre located in downtown Toronto, providing primary, secondary and tertiary care services for Toronto, Southern Ontario and beyond. The Department of Surgery at St. Michael's Hospital enjoys a proven track record in tertiary care surgical services with strengths in each of the surgical specialties.The Division of Neurosurgery at St. Michael's Hospital/University of Toronto is a large academic neurosurgery unit with fully appointed clinical facilities, a large neurosurgery in patient service, and new experimental and clinical research facilities.The Division at St. Michael's Hospital focuses on basic science, clinical and trauma related research. The Institution's research profile is well established and has been further strengthened by the new research facility, The Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute. Currently, the Division of Neurosurgery and the Division Otolaryngology have an outstanding relationship and collaborative practice is the expectation.
